Data Hosting
If you plan to have a website for your business, you will need to find what is called a host. The host is a computer located on the internet, where you store the documents, pictures, videos and text that are all part of your website. Keep in mind, you can also put files in a host computer that are not available to the public, but only to you, employees, friends and family who you choose to give a password to. The advantage of placing files onto a host computer is that they can be accessed securely anyplace you have a connection to the web.
Buss International offers hosting for our clients costing just $60/year ($5/month). This low price gives you everything you need to build the website you need. From simple and creative sites to complex database driven websites, everything is included. For a complete list of hosting account features, see below.
Data Hosting Details - All for $60/year
Storage Space - plenty of Gigabytes to store thousands of photos, documents, and create a great website. Just like kitchen cabinets, you would be surprised how much space you need, especially as digital photos and videos are becoming quite popular.
Unlimited E-Mail Accounts - setup as many email accounts as you want in the format of ????@yourdomain.com so you have a professional image to present your clients.
POP3/IMAP/Webmail Access - this simply means you can check your above email accounts using popular programs such as Outlook Express, Outlook, Mail or others.
Unlimited FTP Accounts - FTP is really for experts like me, but it allows a simple way to send files, pictures, and documents back and forth from your home computer to your host computer. I'll be happy to show you how it all works.
Unlimited Subdomains - a subdomain is similar to a prefix. For example, dmv.ca.gov is a sub-domain of www.ca.gov which some consider easy to remember if you want to visit the DMV. Again, techie stuff you may not use.
E-Mail Forwarding - so for many years you have used a favorite email address that looks like ????@aol.com or ????@yahoo.com or ????@sbcglobal.net or some other email provider. Now you want to be professional looking, and use the email address ????@yourcompany.com, right? Well with email forwarding, any email that is sent to your professional sounding new email, ????@yourcompany.com can be routed right into your familiar inbox at AOL or Yahoo, and nobody will ever know.
Mailman Mailing Lists - you can enter the email addresses of your clients and easily maintain mailing lists to send out promotions, special announcements, or coupons.
PHP & Perl Scripting - If you knew what PHP or Perl was, you wouldn't need to hire me. These are programming languages popular on the web for making fancy sites. Let's move on.
Unlimited mySQL Databases - if you want a website that has any sort of dynamic content, content that changes often, or is categorized in a directory, you will want a mySQL database. For example, real estate listings, classified ads, address books, user login and password access, and similar sites all run on a database.
Frontpage Extensions - Frontpage is Microsoft's web design software. If it was so great, there wouldn't be any web designers out there like me. But, if you want to use it, you can.
Shared 128-bit SSL Access - This enables us to add some enhanced security features to the site. Not required for most websites, and I don't design online banking or finacial websites.
Fantastico Installer - Fantastico is a great catalogue of freely available extras for your website. You can create photo albums, online surveys, online storefronts to sell items using credit cards, address books, auctions, real estate listings, classified ads, support desk, online chat rooms, discussion boards, and many other neat additions. All free, all very professional, and highly recommended. Be sure and ask me to show you all that is available when we meet.
